The Revolutionists
by Lauren Gunderson
directed by Jared Reynolds
Four women (or is it five?) live boldly in this comedy set during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. Author Olympe de Gouges, Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle, assassin Charlotte Corday, and former queen Marie Antoinette hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the insanity of 1793 Paris. What was a hopeful revolution for the people is now sinking into hyper-violent hypocritical male rhetoric. However will modern audiences relate?
